Forming Priests to Serve the Church Around the World

In the heart of Rome, the Pontifical College Maria Mater Ecclesiae brings together seminarians from across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, preparing them to become faithful and well-formed priests for their home dioceses. Through Catholic World Mission, five seminarians from dioceses facing significant financial challenges will receive scholarships covering 80% of their tuition, room, board, and university studies.
These scholarships are more than an investment in the education of five young men, they are an investment in the future of the Church. By helping seminarians answer their call to the priesthood, CWM is equipping future pastors to bring the Gospel, the sacraments, and hope back to communities around the world.
PROJECT UPDATES
No Priest, No Mass
September 2026
With sincere gratitude, we announce that the generosity of Catholic World Mission donors has successfully funded another full year of formation for five seminarians at the Pontificio Collegio Internazionale Maria Mater Ecclesiae in Rome. The donations provided by CWM covered not just the tuition of the seminarians’ continued education, but their living expenses as well, including daily meals, essential amenities, and laundry services. In supporting these faithful and diligent seminarians, our donors have both provided these young men with an unforgettable experience in Rome and have assisted in the preparation of future priests for evangelization in underprivileged countries such as Cameroon, Tanzania, and Congo.

“I take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to you for your kindness and generosity. Back in Cameroon, it was challenging to get the basic needs, to pursue a proper formation, coupled with the armed crisis in the country, which has affected the Diocese in a drastic manner. Here am I, comfortable and undergoing formation in a free, calm and conducive environment. I cannot be grateful enough. It is out of your good heart that you have decided to help me undergo my formation, not out of my merit.”
Basil Yowkewi Dorr, Seminarian
Please pray for these seminarians as they continue their formation, that they may soon be able to serve Christ’s universal Church as faithful priests!
