GUINEA

In the villages of West Africa, these brave Sisters need you …

If St. Paul were alive today, I wouldn’t be surprised to find him working alongside Sister Marta Cardona in Guinea, a primarily Muslim nation in West Africa.

Sister Marta knows the high price of missionary life all too well. In Guinea, Catholics are a tiny, marginalized minority. Sister Marta and her small community barely have enough to live on. They certainly cannot afford a security fence, which is a grave safety concern.

The Sisters teach children who sit in the dirt as they learn. Local seminarians have no books to support their studies. Most members of the community don’t even have access to Bibles!

Catechumens gather with Sister Marta under the open sky because they have no proper meeting space. Still, these brave faithful come to learn about Jesus and the Catholic Church. Their families don’t understand their choices … their neighbors don’t respect their beliefs … and their culture doesn’t support their conversion.

Sister Marta and her community of believers risk everything for their faith. Will you stand in solidarity with them? Please give generously in the spirit of St. Paul today.

A half-finished Marian grotto is the most formal symbol of the Catholic faith in the community Sister Marta serves. You can help complete the grotto and protect it from damaging weather.

Your caring gift today can help install lighting and fencing to keep the Sisters and their community safe. You can also help provide Bibles, Liturgy of the Hours books, and much more to bring the Good News to those who most need to hear it

GHANA

Caring for the well-being of mothers and their newborns

A mother, exhausted after hours of hard labor, cradles her newborn baby in her arms. As she looks lovingly at the new life she created, she hears something unexpected.

She will have to give up her hospital bed and lie with her infant on the cold, hard floor.

Catholic World Mission - Give Now

It seems unimaginable here in the United States, but at St. Anne Catholic Hospital in Ghana, it’s an everyday occurrence. The hospital cares for more than 1,000 mothers a year, but it doesn’t have enough beds or space to keep up with the demand.

Almost as soon as a woman gives birth, she must move aside to make room for the next mother.

Your support will allow the hospital to expand, enabling the dedicated staff to provide the kind of care they know their patients need and deserve. With more space, the team can better monitor moms and newborns, reducing complications and decreasing the rate of maternal and infant mortality.

No baby should ever take their first breath, only to be lost a few hours later because doctors didn’t have the resources to identify warning signs and provide proper care.

The expansion of the maternity ward aims to reduce maternal mortality and ensure timely intervention within 24 hours of arrival, enhancing maternal and child health services.

St. Anne's Hospital is a 100-bed facility offering 24-hour services to Damongo community. The space is insufficient to meet all needs, particularly in the maternity ward.

This is truly urgent need, and I hope you'll help today  by sending a gift
