Adventure + Renewal in Kenia
Dates: TBD 2027 Overview: Looking for an unforgettable experience that strengthens your marriage while opening your heart to another culture? In 2027, Catholic World Mission is inviting 5–10 American Catholic couples to join a unique mission trip to Kenya that blends adventure, couple time, and meaningful cultural exchange. The journey begins with a three-day camel safari through one of Kenya’s most pristine nature reserves: walking, tent camping, and sharing the trail with other like-minded couples who value both adventure and intentional time together. From there, we move into the heart of the trip: a five-day Faithful House marriage renewal retreat shared equally with Kenyan couples. Developed by CWM board member Dr. George Mulcaire-Jones, The Faithful House uses the practical metaphor of building a house to help couples deepen communication, practice mutual respect and true love, remain faithful, and grow in shared decision-making around the real issues of family life. More than 300,000 African couples have already experienced its fruit -- stronger marriages, reduced household tension, and greater resilience in the face of daily challenges. This is not a typical mission trip. You will learn side-by-side with Kenyan husbands and wives, discovering cultural differences and common hopes for marriage, while living out what it means to build a Faithful House together. Safe Passages Mission Trip to Uganda
Dates: TBD 2027 Are you a doctor, nurse practitioner, midwife, nurse, or Natural Family Planning expert with a heart for service and a love of travel? Catholic World Mission is looking for short-term medical volunteers (1-2 weeks) to join an upcoming Safe Passages mission trip. In rural health centers where maternal and infant mortality remain highest, you’ll help train local midwives and nurses in life-saving emergency obstetrical care. Our Safe Passages program focuses on practical, proven interventions that work even in resource-scarce settings, addressing the leading causes of maternal death and severe complications: hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, sepsis, obstructed labor, and anesthesia-related emergencies. You’ll also support training in malnutrition care, stunting prevention, and Natural Family Planning. We’ll equip you with the best practices developed through decades of rural healthcare work in Africa so you can become a trainer yourself. And the impact doesn’t end when you return home; we’ll help you stay connected as a professional advisor to your clinic, continuing to support better outcomes for mothers, newborns, and young children long after the trip. Vietnam's Road
of Faith
You are invited to walk Vietnam’s “road of faith” on a 10-day Catholic heritage pilgrimage that travels the length of the country from north to south. Begin in the north at the remarkable stone-and-wood Phat Diem Cathedral (1891) and the Gothic So Kien Basilica. Continue with a night cruise on the emerald waters of Ha Long Bay and a visit to the UNESCO river caves at Trang An. Move southward to the national Marian shrine of Our Lady of La Vang, the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An Old Town, and the twin-spired Notre Dame Cathedral in Saigon, before ending with time along the Mekong. This carefully planned journey offers both spiritual depth and cultural beauty. The package ($1,470 per person) includes seven nights in 5-star hotels, a two-day/one-night Halong Bay cruise, daily breakfast plus most meals, private coach and guide, all entrance fees, and boat excursions at Halong, Trang An, and the Mekong. The route runs Hanoi → Halong Bay → Ninh Binh → Hue → La Vang → Danang → Hoi An → Saigon → Mekong. Space is limited. Family Mission
Dates: June 24, 2027 – July 1, 2027 Overview Tierra la Bomba is an island of about 9,000 people outside the city of Cartagena. Once serving as a leper colony, Tierra la Bomba still suffers from intense isolation and poverty. Hopelessness and unemployment are prominent issues and the local diocese’s resources are stretched thin. Thankfully, there are compassionate Catholics who are helping. Every summer, Father Andrew Gronotte, LC leads a team of lay missionaries in an annual mission trip to Tierra la Bomba. Together they walk door to door, praying with people and consecrating them to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. They also give food to those in need after Mass and welcome them into the loving support of the faith community. Every year they go, however, they notice the same problem.
México City & Cuatro Ciénegas Pilgrimage
Dates: March 13–21, 2027 You are invited to a nine-day pilgrimage and mission experience that blends deep spiritual encounters, natural beauty, and hands-on service. Led by consecrated woman Luly Fernandez and Fr. Daniel Brandenburg, LC, the journey begins in Mexico City with visits to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan, Mexico City Cathedral, the Zócalo, Templo Mayor, and Chapultepec Castle. From there we travel north to Cuatro Ciénegas, often called the “Galápagos of Mexico”, a stunning desert oasis of crystal-clear springs, rare ecosystems, and gypsum dunes. Here pilgrims walk the sacred 12.5-mile St. Joseph’s Way, pausing at 14 stations that reflect on the life of the Holy Family and invite us to encounter Saint Joseph as a model of spiritual fatherhood. At the heart of the trip is meaningful mission work with Plan 2040, a long-term community transformation initiative already serving more than 8,000 people. Participants meet local families, assist with home improvement and rehabilitation projects, and witness integrated efforts in health, education, family strengthening, spirituality, and employment that help break cycles of poverty. Daily Mass and prayer, outdoor activities such as kayaking, swimming, and stargazing, and shared meals at Hotel Marielena create a balanced rhythm of contemplation, service, and genuine encounter. This is more than a pilgrimage or a service trip. It is an invitation to grow in faith, serve with purpose, and experience how sustained, faith-rooted support builds lasting hope in a living community. Space is limited.
