The Cultural Foyer Maison de l'Amitié, founded by CICM missionaries at the Saint Michel Catholic Mission in Podor, is the only cultural center available to youth outside of schools in the community. Each year, it welcomes between 200–400 young people for activities that promote education, literacy, cultural development, and the advancement of women—serving all without distinction of religion, race, or culture.

The center provides vital resources including a library, tutoring, summer school programs, and a computer room. However, constant power cuts have left the computer lab largely unusable. The purchase of laptops will ensure that students can continue learning even during outages, helping them build skills for the future.

Beyond education, this project seeks to address deep poverty in Podor and its surrounding villages, where limited agricultural opportunities contribute to hardship and fuel the risk of illegal immigration.
Through this initiative, Catholic World Mission donors are helping empower young people, sustain faith, and promote unity in a region where opportunities are scarce and challenges are great.

September 2025
On behalf of the Cultural Foyer Maison de l'Amitié in Podor, Senegal, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the generous Catholic World Mission donors who made this project possible.
Because of your support, students now have laptops, classroom supplies, and learning materials that give them dignity, confidence, and the tools they need to succeed. The joy on their faces is a powerful reminder of the impact your generosity brings.

This project has not only provided material support, but also renewed hope for young people and their families. Your kindness is helping them pursue education, grow in faith, and build brighter futures rooted in opportunity rather than hardship.
