What do you do when the promise is delayed?

Leaders get attached to the promise—the successful exit, the record-breaking quarter, the rewarding promotion.
But what happens when that promise is delayed? What happens when the market shifts, a key project fails, or a promotion doesn't come through?
I was struck by this idea: True security comes from clinging to the Source of your drive, not the immediate satisfaction of the goal. The 'Promise Giver' more than the 'Promise getter.
'When we're more attached to our 'why' than the 'what,'
we become unshakable.
Our security isn’t based on securing the blessing ourselves, but on trusting the person and the purpose driving our process.
