Who is a woman who’s made an impact on your career?

As a Catholic priest, I can’t help but think of the woman who shaped the most consequential “career” in human history: the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A little tongue‑in‑cheek? Sure. But also deeply true.

Mary didn’t just "happen" to be Jesus' mother. She played a decisive leadership role at every stage of Christ’s mission:

✔️ She said the first “yes” that made the Incarnation possible.

Every vocation begins with one courageous yes. Mary’s opened the path for the Word to become flesh.

✔️ She formed the human heart of Jesus.

His tenderness, his compassion, his capacity to listen—those human qualities were nurtured, taught, and modeled by a mother who lived them first.

✔️ She supported Him through His public ministry.

From Cana to Calvary, she was present, encouraging, interceding, and quietly strengthening the mission.

✔️ She held the early Church together.

When the Apostles were frightened and scattered, they gathered around her. She was the steady heart of a fragile community learning to hope again.

So today, while we honor the countless women who have shaped our careers, our leadership, and our humanity, I’m especially grateful for Mary—the first disciple, the first mentor, and the one who helped the Savior grow into His mission.

To all the women who shape lives, vocations, and futures with your strength, love and leadership: thank you.

Your influence, like Mary’s, often goes unseen—but never unfelt.
