MANO AMIGA PHILIPPINES

Rooted in Catholic values and dedicated to the holistic development of underprivileged youth, Mano Amiga Philippines serves impoverished communities in Metro Manila: Taguig City and Parañaque City. Currently, Mano Amiga provides quality, values-based education and character formation to 270 students from Kindergarten to Grade 10, and employment to 40 passionate educators and staff. Its mission extends beyond the classroom, nurturing the broader community through spiritual enrichment, parenting workshops, and livelihood programs.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” – Psalm 127:1

Due to unstable soil conditions caused by neighboring construction, the safety and integrity of the school facilities are at risk. Cracks, ground instability, and structural stress threaten the secure environment essential to our mission. While the school remains structurally sound for now, experts have warned that immediate intervention is critical to prevent future irreparable damage. Without timely repairs, we risk the wellbeing of our students, staff, and visitors—and the disruption of our sacred mission.

We seek the generous support of Catholic World Mission and other kind-hearted benefactors to help with

  • Soil stabilization and erosion assessment

  • Reconstruction of the driveway slab

  • Construction of a secure perimeter fence

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9

PROJECT UPDATES

First Phase of Reconstruction is Successfully Completed

April 2025

Thanks to the support of Catholic World Mission, Mano Amiga Philippines was able to successfully increase physical and psychological safety for its students, staff, and parents by supporting the first phase of the reconstruction project.  It also enhanced the surrounding activity areas, contributing to a more organized and secure school environment.

FIRST COMPONENT: Perimeter Wall Improvement

The school’s old perimeter walls were weak and caused soil erosion, posing safety risks and exposing the campus to external threats.

Through this project, the walls were reinforced and elevated to prevent erosion, secure the property, and improve the school's appearance. The improvements ensure a stable foundation for future school developments.

SECOND COMPONENT: Driveway Enhancement

The previously uneven and unsafe driveway was leveled and paved with a durable, slip-resistant surface. This upgrade improved safety and accessibility for students, staff, and visitors, reduced accidents, and helped keep the campus clean during all seasons.

STUDENT VOICES: Safer Spaces, Brighter Days

“The newly renovated driveway and walls made a subtle and good impact to the school. Not only does it look a lot more pretty and proper, but it has also helped us students in a way! Back then, when there weren’t any renovations yet, there were a lot subtle problems like limited space for physical activities and a lot of volleyballs going over the wall. The space on the side used to just be a field of pebbles and rocks so we couldn’t play there properly. It bothered a lot of students, including myself. We also used to lose a lot of volleyballs that’d go over the short walls, and we never got the balls back. But now that the driveway’s cemented and the walls are elevated, there’s a lot more space to play, and we barely lose our balls to the other side of the wall. The renovations have helped a lot of students too, especially those who bike to school. I find the new layout and bike racks to be very effective.”

“The walls that were made taller, and the bike lane as well as the parking spaces for cars and bikes made the school look much better and organized. The improvements made to the school made me feel more secure and proud of its appearance.”

“The newly renovated driveway has made our school safer and more organized, helping students move around and walk around safely. For the walls they give a more welcoming atmosphere. These improvements not only enhance the school’s appearance but also create a better learning environment for the Mano community.”

“Thy Kingdom Come! Good day to whoever is reading this. Firstly I would like to say thank you for your generosity, because of your help our school is doing better! Renovating the driveway has helped us because now we have more space for playing, parking & it made our activity area look better! And the walls made us feel safer whenever we play, there are less balls going over the wall, which makes it more fun whenever we play. And now we have more space for our murals! Renovating the wall gave us a chance to decorate & paint the walls, & it made the school look more alive & vibrant! And my favorite part is that each mural has a unique message & it’s made with love, passion, & dedication from the students. All of this was possible thanks to you! So thank you again, may God bless you all! Have a great day!.”
