Every month in the Catholic Church has a special devotion—and July is all about the Most Precious Blood of Jesus.

You’ve probably heard it mentioned during Mass or in prayers like the Litany of the Precious Blood, but maybe you haven’t stopped to think deeply about why this devotion exists or what it means in our everyday lives.

So let’s take a minute to dive in.

A Bit of History

The devotion to the Precious Blood has been around for centuries. While Catholics have always honored Christ's sacrifice, this specific focus grew stronger in the 1800s. Pope Pius IX officially approved the devotion in 1849, and later, Pope Pius X designated July as its special month.

For generations, Catholics have used this time to meditate on the infinite love shown by Jesus through His suffering and the shedding of His blood—not just during the Passion, but throughout His life.

Did You Know What Makes July — the Month of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus —Spiritually Powerful for Catholics?

It honors the sacrifice and love Jesus showed by shedding His blood for us.
His Precious Blood is a symbol of mercy, healing, and redemption.
It’s deeply connected to the Eucharist—the true Body and Blood of Christ.
July is a time to pray, reflect, and give thanks.

Why Does This Matter to Us Today?

In a world where we’re constantly being pulled in every direction—news, stress, responsibilities—it’s easy to forget the depth of God’s love for us.

But when we pause and reflect on the Precious Blood, we’re reminded:

  • Christ poured out everything for us.

  • His blood is a symbol of mercy, protection, and redemption.

  • We’re never too far gone—His sacrifice covers it all.

For Catholics, the Precious Blood isn’t just a metaphor. It’s real. It’s present in the Eucharist. It’s what saves us. That’s something worth remembering—not just in July, but every day.

How We Can Respond

As a Catholic World Mission, we invite you this July to:

  • Pray the Litany of the Precious Blood (even just once a week).

  • Reflect on the Passion of Christ, especially during Eucharistic Adoration.

  • Support our mission to bring Christ’s mercy to others—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word.

This July, let’s not let the Precious Blood be something we only hear about at Mass. Let’s live it. Share it. Honor it.

Together, let’s make this July more than just another month.
