Catholic World Mission was honored to host the C-Legs Internship Program for its first Dynamic Speaker Event of the summer.

C-Legs Internship Program

Founded by Mike Drapeau, C-Legs has been partnering with Atlanta based businesses – including Catholic World Mission – to connect college students and employers for nearly 17 years. Through teaching webinars, professional formation, one-on-one mentoring, and Catholic service work, C-Legs not only equips college students to be productive and effective in the workplace but instills the values needed for young people to make a positive difference in the world as they integrate work and faith.

This Monday night, Catholic World Mission welcomed C-Legs interns and staff for a delicious pizza dinner. The event featured speaker Deacon Tad George, who shared his powerful spiritual journey from growing up in a Baptist family to his conversion to the Catholic faith and recent ordination to the diaconate.

Deacon Tad works at OrthoAtlanta and now serves as a Deacon at St. Brendan the Navigator after years of experience serving his parish family as a eucharistic minister, sacristan, RCIA leader and student chaplain at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

However, his journey of discerning and embracing his current vocation was not a straightforward path. Despite the steadfast influence of his Catholic wife, Deacon Tad resisted God’s call to conversion – until he had a life-changing experience at his nine-year-old son’s first Holy Communion. He realized that he and his family had to receive the Blessed Sacrament together, and within days, he was enrolled in RCIA.

In a busy world of distractions that can drown out the quiet call of the Holy Spirit, Deacon Tad emphasized the importance of making time for silence, encouraging the interns to “take the time to be quiet and disconnect so that you can hear God!”

The team at Catholic World Mission are grateful for this opportunity to support the awesome C-Legs interns and thank Deacon Tad for sharing his incredible story!
