On June 19, Catholics around the world will celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi—Latin for “Body of Christ.” This special feast honors the profound mystery of the Eucharist: the Real Presence of Jesus Christ—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—in the consecrated bread and wine at Mass.
It’s more than a tradition; it’s a public affirmation of one of the central truths of our faith—that Christ is truly present and continues to dwell among us through the Eucharist.
What Is Corpus Christi Really About?
The Real Presence
Corpus Christi celebrates the Catholic belief in the Real Presence—that the Eucharist is not merely symbolic but becomes the actual Body and Blood of Christ through transubstantiation. It’s the living Presence of Jesus under the appearance of bread and wine.
The Institution of the Eucharist
While Holy Thursday also recalls the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, Corpus Christi provides a chance to celebrate this gift in a joyful, focused way—outside the sorrowful context of Jesus’ Passion.
Public Worship and Witness
In many parts of the world, Eucharistic processions take place. The consecrated host is displayed in a monstrance and carried through the streets, allowing the faithful to publicly witness and proclaim Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. It’s a visible act of love and reverence.
Gratitude and Reparation
This feast is also a time to offer thanks for the gift of the Eucharist and to make reparation for times when this sacrament has been received without love, neglected, or disrespected.

“As we celebrate Corpus Christi—the gift of Christ’s Body and Blood—let us respond with generous hearts. Your donation helps make Christ’s love real to those who need it most.”
