EL SALVADOR
In the heart of El Salvador, where challenges often overshadow opportunity, a light shines—thanks to a scholarship initiative that’s changing lives at Mano Amiga San Antonio. With the support of Catholic World Mission, Father Arquimedes Sanche Gines L.C., and the VIS Foundation, we are working to ensure that ten students in need receive the gift of Catholic Education.
This project will provide access to a comprehensive Catholic education that nurtures not only the mind but also the spirit. In a community where most families face economic instability and work in informal sectors, these scholarships are a lifeline. They offer stability, hope, and the chance to break the cycle of poverty through learning and spiritual growth. We believe that through education rooted in Catholic values, we can reduce social violence, strengthen families, and build a community where love and faith lead the way.
Mano Amiga San Antonio serves nearly 400 students, many of whom come from deeply impoverished backgrounds. Despite limited resources, the school continues to provide certified teachers, quality materials, and a safe environment where children can flourish. With the help of the VIS Foundation—an organization committed to human rights, solidarity, and community development—this program also promotes hygiene, nutrition, cultural values, and parental involvement.

A Letter from the Director of Mano Amiga San Antonio
December 2025
My name is Janio José Cruz Vado, director of the Mano Amiga San Antonio Catholic Educational Complex.
On this occasion, I want to share with you the experience I've gained this year in this work. This work has become a vocation for serving the most vulnerable. Our education sector is one of the most significant groups in terms of needs. We serve children not only from limited resources, but also from family breakdowns. In the absence of parents, children live with a relative (uncle, grandparents, or, in their absence, a neighbor). These relatives or community members wait in the hope that tomorrow will be better. For them, a better future looks like these youth, their chosen children, building strong families that last.
Personally, I believe in self-improvement. I've seen students who would struggle to get ahead pursue technical degrees, with a percentage aspiring to university degrees. These students are alive with the hope that tomorrow will be different. These students can smile despite the obstacles they have faced.
You are part of this hope I speak of, because with your support, we can reach further and meet the needs of many who seek improvement. Without a doubt, you also make a difference. You are that gentle breeze that makes new hope spring up. Thank you for boarding the boat of hope and being the hope of those who await with aspirations for personal fulfillment.
God is provident and will give without limits to all who care for those who know how to wait with hope.
