LAY MISSIONARIES ETC 2026

Father Gronotte and his team walk door to door, praying with the poor bring them spiritual and material nourishment
Lay evangelizers go door to door through remote mountain communities, leading rosaries and preparing families for the sacraments.

March 2026 In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus looks out at the crowds and says: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field” (9:37-38). Around the world, that prayer is being answered by faithful laymen and laywomen who have said yes to the call. In Malawi, one priest serves 784 square miles. He cannot possibly reach every village.

Therefore, the Church trains lay ministers to lead Sunday worship, teach catechism, and visit the sick in 21 outstations throughout the parish. In Mexico, lay evangelizers go door to door through remote mountain communities, leading rosaries and preparing families for the sacraments. During Holy Week, thousands of missionaries fan out across Latin America, reaching half a million people in a single season. T hey are not ordained, but they are sent. Catholic World Mission supports lay missionaries across the globe with training, resources, and the tools they need to bring Christ to communities that would otherwise not know Him. Will you help send more workers into the harvest? Please consider making your most generous gift today, and God bless you for helping to spread the Word of the Lord

Together, through Him, lay missionaries help to extend the work of priests where His word is called to go.

St. Pio inspired the laity in the “new evangelization.” From Africa to the Americas, these missionaries answer that call. Your gift equips them to go where priests cannot, preparing the way for Christ in hearts that hunger for Him.
