January is full of inspiration if we look to the Saints! Each feast day is a chance to bring your family together, grow in faith, and start little traditions that make God part of your daily life. Here’s how you can celebrate some of January’s beloved Saints at home.
JANUARY 4

Elizabeth Ann Seton
Let’s start the year by learning about Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born Saint. Elizabeth was a mother of five who lost her husband at a young age. She devoted her life to God, starting schools and religious communities in the United States. She shows us how faith and courage can guide a family.
“God is very good, and we must never lose confidence in Him.”
PRAYER
Dear St. Elizabeth, help our family to trust God in every moment and to serve others with love and joy. Amen.
ACTIVITY IDEAS
Read a children’s story about her life.
Draw or craft a “schoolhouse” together.
JANUARY 5

St. John Neumann
Next, we celebrate St. John Neumann, a dedicated priest and teacher. John came from Bohemia and became a priest in America. He was committed to teaching children and helping immigrant families grow in faith. He reminds us how important it is to care for others patiently.
“To teach is to touch a life forever.”
PRAYER
St. John, guide our family to love learning and to help others as we have been helped. Amen.
ACTIVITY IDEAS
Bake cookies or a simple treat to share with neighbors.
Read about his work in schools and parishes.
JANUARY 21

St. Agnes
Now, let’s meet St. Agnes, a young girl who stayed faithful even in difficult times. She symbolizes purity, courage, and love for God, reminding us that even the youngest among us can have a strong faith.
“God is my strength and my light.”
PRAYER
St. Agnes, teach us to be brave in our faith and to live with kindness every day. Amen.
ACTIVITY IDEAS
Make a small lamb out of cotton balls.
Light a candle and say a short prayer together.
JANUARY 24

St. Francis de Sales
Next is St. Francis de Sales, known for his gentle heart and patience. He was a bishop who wrote letters and books guiding people to love God and each other, teaching us how kindness and patience can shape our family life.
“Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them.”
PRAYER
St. Francis de Sales, help us to speak and act with patience and love in our family and community. Amen.
ACTIVITY IDEAS
Read a short quote from his writings about kindness.
Ask family members how they can show patience this week.
JANUARY 28

St. Thomas Aquinas
Finally, we celebrate St. Thomas Aquinas, a great teacher and thinker. From a young age, he loved learning and became a theologian and teacher, showing how faith and reason go hand in hand.
“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.”
PRAYER
St. Thomas Aquinas, inspire our hearts to love knowledge and wisdom, and to seek God in all we learn. Amen.
ACTIVITY IDEAS
Explore a “question of the week” together about faith or God’s creation.
Read a kid-friendly story about his life.
Making It a Family Tradition
You don’t need elaborate celebrations - small, meaningful moments count the most. Read Saint stories over breakfast, light a candle at dinner, or pray together before bedtime. Even small daily moments can bring the Saints’ examples to life in your home.
By celebrating Saints at home, you’re teaching your children about holy people and building a home where faith is lived, shared, and celebrated every day. It's all about presenting positive Faith-Filled role models for our children!
