Together with some enterprising lay Catholics, Fr. Thomas Moylan, LC, a priest with the Legionaries of Christ, helped found Catholic World Mission in 1998. Initially, the goal of CWM was to support Catholic education and missionary activities around the world. Building on these goals today, we focus on five core aspects of development: education, medical missionary work, evangelization, disaster relief, and building physical infrastructure where there is none. Our mission remains to bring all souls to Christ, while seeking to end physical and spiritual poverty through our ongoing projects.

Founded in 1998, Catholic World Mission (CWM) was officially named an exempt organization under section 402 of the Not-For-Profit Corporation of New York on November 28th of that year. CWM is currently listed as a separate 501 c3 of the IRS code and is listed as a religious non-profit on page 888 of the 2007 Official Catholic Directory.

CWM has heeded the Pope’s call to spread the Faith and bring education to people in the mission lands. With God’s blessings, our present growth will continue; plans for sustaining our current projects and introducing new ones are a top priority.

CWM enables poor families to experience the life-changing power of the Catholic faith, helping them to break out of poverty and ignorance; bringing them hope and spiritual renewal!

Please share your experience of Catholic World Mission with us and with others! Pass along our website address and other mailings you may receive. Encourage your friends to support our efforts to Conquer poverty with the richness of our Catholic faith!

Some of our supporters have made us part of their estate plans. Recently, the surviving family members of one of our generous supporters asked that gifts be sent to Catholic World Mission in lieu of flowers.

If you have left us in your estate plans, please let us know so we can say “Thank you!”

Our legal title is: Catholic World Mission, Inc.
