Problem
  • Lack of quality education for students in developing areas.
  • High drop-out rate in government schools

Solution
  • An educational system enriched with health services and additional programs to promote economic and cultural growth in the surrounding neighborhood, thus transforming the entire community and breaking the cycle of poverty
  • The child's education encompasses the whole student; intellectual, spiritual, character, and apostolic. There is also an emphasis on virtue formation.

Benefits

Progress

Mano Amiga Tijuana opened in January 2008. The school started with 329 students and 12 classrooms.

Each sponsorship of $650 helps assure that a child will get education for a full year (10 months).

Workshops, courses, and lectures given at the Mano Amiga school are also improving the lives of hundreds of families of these students.

Before

La Cima,a Mano Amiga Community, in 1990 (no electricity or automobiles).

After

La Cima in 2005 (the same Mano Amiga community 15 years later).

History of Mano Amiga Schools and Education

The first Mano Amiga school was established in 1963.

There are 34 Mano Amiga schools in 9 countries. Some schools have been in operation for almost 50 years.

Mano Amiga schools are located in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Philippines.

Over 85% of our graduates continue their education beyond high school.

Over 83% of Mano Amiga alumni have formal employment.
