Join us in Mission Hope

For the Religious and Catholic school children of the Gulf Coast region, the crisis is not over.

In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, important parts of the Body of Christ in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and surrounding areas are still beyond the reach of secular relief organizations.

That is why Catholic World Mission and Youth for the Third Millennium (www.ytm.org) launched ‘Mission Hope’ with a goal of $3 million to enable not just humanitarian relief in the region but spiritual assistance as well. Due to the generosity of many caring hearts we have been able to help in the following ways:

  • Provide support for the 48 priests of the Archdiocese in New Orleans who have no parishes

  • Provide support for ongoing youth mission trips since Sep 9. We have trips planned through Lent and into the summer--as long as it takes to rebuild

  • Provide support of several catholic schools: absorbing tuition costs and school supplies

Please join us in “Mission Hope’, as we continue to help restore parishes and schools and provide much-needed faith support and spiritual healing for survivors and for assisting priests, deacons, sisters and brothers in their ministries to bereft families:

  • $750,000 for priests displaced from their residences and parishes who continue to minister to survivors to the extent they can without means of support, without benefits, without cars … striving to make do having lost clothing, chalices, breviaries … often more than imaginable

  • $2,150,000 for Catholic education assistance – books, materials, teachers’ salaries, tuition for students whose families have no jobs, no income to re-enroll the many children displaced from the area’s Catholic schools

  • $100,000 for person-to-person restoration missions to clean, repair, rebuild and reach out to so many who have lost so much

Ask your friends to get involved with you and form a team! And pray that Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Patroness of New Orleans, will bless your efforts.
